A whiskey release in 2022 wouldn’t be complete without another limited-edition NFT.
BlockBar has teamed up with Johnnie Walker to provide its latest matured expression alongside a digital artwork and a special VIP tour to the distillery. This is the first time the renowned whisky maker has ventured into the non-fungible market.
But, of course, it all starts with the Scotch. Masters of Flavour, Johnnie Walker’s third and final release in the Masters series, is a combination of rare whiskies aged for at least 48 years taken from the four “ghost” distilleries of Port Dundas, Brora, Glen Albyn, and Glenury Royal. According to the distiller, the drink has a deep and smokey scent that leads to a taste of fruit, subtle spice, and sweet butterscotch. It comes in a hand-blown Baccarat crystal decanter.
Collectors will receive a one-of-a-kind graphic design by artist Kode Abdo, a.k.a. BossLogic, as a non-fungible token when they purchase the bottle (NFT). Many wine and alcohol firms are now matching new releases with NFTs since the NFT will be safely preserved on the blockchain and cannot be copied or destroyed.
In a statement, Johnnie Walker’s global brand director Julie Bramham stated, “This creative partnership with BlockBar puts Johnnie Walker at the bleeding edge of what is possible in whiskey, giving something genuinely unique for whisky enthusiasts and collectors throughout the world.”
A one-time vacation to Scotland is also included with each bottle. The glamorous Johnnie Walker visitor center and the renowned Glenkinchie Distillery will be visited. Before retiring to the magnificent Gleneagles Townhouse to sleep off that whiskey, you’ll receive a guided tour of the Diageo Archive and enjoy VIP samples of the rarest drops on offer.
The catch is that there are only seven NFTs available for collectors. Each artwork is priced at $35,000 and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis starting May 31 at 10 a.m. EST.
