On the 10th and 11th of November, Democracy4All will take place in La Llotja de Mar, Barcelona, as well as online.
In the fourth edition of Democracy4All, metaverses and democracy are debated.
Democracy4All is a worldwide reference event for blockchain technology, focused on how it may be used to improve government and democracy throughout the world.
After the success of its last edition, the worldwide event Democracy4All (or D4A), which has been held annually since 2019, comes to Barcelona for its fourth edition in a hybrid format, offering both online and on-site experiences. The CBCat (Blockchain Center of Catalonia), which is part of the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce, is hosting the event, which has the support of the Catalan government.
Because of its focus on the application of blockchain as a tool for democratic reform in terms of societal, corporate, and individual governance, Democracy4All is a one-of-a-kind event in the globe. It gives Catalonia the chance to host the world’s most significant gathering of political actors and institutions, and it helps to accelerate the conversation between government entities and new technology.
Democracy4All brings together innovators, professionals, and policymakers to exchange and debate the latest technological and regulatory developments. The event’s foundation is built on the Council of Europe’s 12 Principles of Good Democratic Government, which contain essential ideals that provide a shared vision of democratic governance in Europe (see the 12 principles here).
The group will release the list of speakers in the near future. Top-level figures from the fields of technology and politics, including John McAffee, founder of McAffee, John Denton, Secretary General of the ICC, Helen Köpman, acting Head of Unit Digital Innovation and Blockchain at the European Commission, Toomas Hendrik, former president of Estonia, and Jordi Puigneró, vice-president of the Catalan Government, attended the event.
Unsurprisingly, one of the hot themes at D4A 2022 will be metaverses, which will have their own stage. “The metaverse boom is only getting started; we’re just now realizing the significance of these new realities and the influence they’ll have in the future years,” says Vasilisa Marinchuk, the event’s director. “While this sounds great, there is still a lot of work to be done in terms of legislation, governance, and democracy. It’s almost as if you’ve arrived in a new universe and have to establish the ground rules from scratch. I am confident that Democracy4All and its participants will play a key role in this “..
Many more events are planned for the event’s two days, including multiple hybrid round tables that will cover a variety of issues and will be held in separate sessions, with participants and representatives from all over the world having the opportunity to speak out. The goal is to provide a diverse range of issues – all of which are relevant to the techno-political sphere – so that any entity, corporation, or group interested in participating may find a place in the conversation. Aside from that, Democracy4All will have start-up pitch sessions, a digital art show, a post-event drink and networking area, and a gala dinner.
